Staying connected & making calls

Staying connected & making calls

Communication is quite a problem in UAE when compared to other countries. Because there are no VoIP services… no WhatsApp calls, no Skype. These apps are banned all over UAE. FaceTime is a maybe, however instant messaging (IM) and voices notes works but there are ways around this.

Three (3) Local service providers, DU, Etisalat & Virgin Mobile
DU can be purchased at the Airport (Terminal 3 & 1) and retails from 55aed ($15) for the sim, for more information http://www.du.ae/personal/mobile/prepaid-plans
Your ID & Visa stamped page will required to purchase a SIM card
(Note: the sim will be valid for 3months as a tourist)
Most hotels, restaurants, bus, parks & malls have free Wi-Fi. So, you don’t have to worry about using data.

The local city code for Dubai is 04 and if you are making an international, if you want to make an international call you can dial the Country code: +971, city code 4 and type the Telephone/Fax number. If it is a mobile then, you can dial Country code: +971, City code: 50 and then the mobile number
